The training

I try to work out seven days a week. Depending on the task at hand, the focus might shift. Preparing for “The Longest Day”, running of course is the main thing, but i also do biking, swimming and strength training. Simply to do something else but just running all the time, but also because i have at least one time trial and the return to long distance triathlon planned for next year.

On week days i run something between 25 and 34k, on weekends at least on elong run between 50 and 60k.

Depending on my work load, i try to squeeze in a bike ride of two hours on week days when bike training starts this winter. During the summer i of course ride my road bike, in winter though i use the mountain bike.

I utilize strength training just for the upper bidy to provide core strength and yoga to relax and stretch.

Getting used to sleep deprivation is kind of unorthodox. I try to stay awake for 24 hours every now and then and will extend this during the months to come. Come spring i’ll start running at night as well to get the body used to exercise at these unusual times. I already got down from an average seven hours of sleep a night to about five hours.
